6. Make a list of local events when you are still at home

Make your trip more meaningful and exotic – before you get on the plane remember to make a list of different holidays and festivals that might be taking place during your visit. Participate in them if it is possible or simply become a spectator. The jolly crowd is full of excited people. They will be happy to make friends with you and tell you more about the event and its history. Celebrate the day, listen to the music, taste the dishes, dance and just do what locals do!
