4. Tower of London
Tower of London is one of the most famous royal palaces because of its turbulent past when it was prison and torture chamber. The whole building is around 1000 years old, and the best way to come is via Tower Hill, the nearest subway station. Royal Armory, Chapel St. Ivan Baptist,Traitordoor and Beauchamp Tower are also part of the offer.
Eventually building changed its purpose, and it hosted for different periods: Royal Menagerie, Royal Astronomical Society, the National Archives and the Royal armory. Today there are famous crown jewels contained there. But the tower remained best known for its turbulent and bloody history for being used as a prison and place of torture and execution. In the 13th century, Edward I built the Tower Beauchamp, which served as a prison for prisoners of high rank.
