Vinicunca Mountain, Peru

Instagrammers the world over are going somewhere over the rainbow……Rainbow Mountain to be precise. This 16,000-foot multicoloured majestic marvel may be a long hard climb but you’ll be rewarded at the top. The colours are formed by the striations of mineral deposits within the sandstone rock, previously hidden under a thick layer of ice. It’s recommended to hike with a guide and spend a few days in Cusco (4 hours drive away and known as the ‘gateway to Machu Picchu’ – another ideal place for the ‘gram) first to acclimatise to the altitude.
